I was driving the other day, listening to Nirvana and Breed came on. I love that fuckin song. However, when I'm alone in the car and a song comes on that I've heard well over 1,000 times I tend to fool around with the words when I sing it. So I started singing Breed in this very deep Mark Mothersbaugh voice and robot intonation. I immediately decided that it would be a good idea for someone to cover Breed in exactly this way. A sort of new wave version of it, very robotic and stiff. I had very little intention of doing this myself. I don't sing. I'm self conscious about laying my voice down. However, one thing led to another and I started transposing the song onto Ableton with other peoples midi versions. I used what instruments I wanted and drum kits and that was pretty much it. Then just as a goof I decided to lay the vocals over to see how it sounded. I have a small plastic pc microphone. I use it to vid chat with friends. It sounds like garbage. This was only to see how it sounded. I did the vocals in one take with zero edits. Ableton has some nice vocal FX and after utilizing them it sounded kinda usable. So there you have it. I give you my version of Breed.
